Terms of use

The agreement between you and Golden Karaoke, written to be read. It describes how the service is offered; it is not legal advice, and we are not lawyers.

The short version

Golden Karaoke is a preview, offered free and as-is. Your account is yours, your recordings are yours, and you keep the rights to everything you make. In return: only upload audio you are allowed to upload, do not use the service to extract music from anywhere it is not offered, and treat other people the way a room full of musicians deserves.

Your account

You need an account to use the service, and you are responsible for what happens under it. Keep your sign-in details to yourself. Tell us if you think someone else has got into your account. One person, one account; do not create accounts to evade a ban or to impersonate someone.

What you make stays yours

You own your recordings, your messages, your presets and your profile. You grant us only what running the service requires: permission to store your content, to process it so the product works, and to show it to the people you have chosen to show it to. That permission ends when you delete the content or your account.

We do not use your recordings to train models, we do not license them to anyone, and we do not make anything public that you have not made public yourself.

Audio you bring

You may only upload or process audio you have the right to use: something you recorded, a backing track you own, licensed material, or a track you have permission for. If you do not hold those rights, do not upload it. Content that infringes someone else’s rights is removed when reported.

The service is deliberately built so that music from YouTube and Spotify cannot be pulled into processing — playback happens in their players, and their audio never reaches our effects chain or recorder. Attempting to work around that, by any means, ends your access. The reasoning is on the home page.

How to behave

Do not use Golden Karaoke to:

  • Harass, threaten, or target anyone, in a channel, a room or a direct message.
  • Post content that is illegal where you are, or that sexualises minors in any form.
  • Record a live room without the participants knowing, or share a recording of someone who did not agree to it.
  • Break into other people’s accounts, scrape the service, or probe it for weaknesses without being invited to.
  • Run bots or automation that degrade the service for other people.

Communities set additional rules for their own spaces and their moderators enforce them. We can remove content, suspend accounts and close communities when these terms are broken, and we will say why when we do.

What is not promised

The service is provided as-is, with no warranty of any kind. It runs on free infrastructure, there is no uptime commitment, features appear and change without notice, and data can be lost. Keep your own copy of anything you would be sorry to lose.

To the fullest extent the law allows, we are not liable for indirect or consequential loss arising from your use of the service — including lost recordings, lost time or a missed performance. Nothing here limits liability that cannot lawfully be limited.

Ending it

You can stop using Golden Karaoke and ask for your account to be deleted at any time. We can suspend or end access if these terms are broken, or if the service itself is discontinued — in which case we will give as much notice as circumstances allow, and a way to retrieve your recordings.

Changes

These terms will change as the product does; the review date at the top marks the last version. Material changes will be announced in the product before they take effect. Continuing to use the service after that means you accept the new terms. Questions go through the project’s issue tracker until a public contact route exists.
